Teaching & Technology- A VLOG

In prior years, physical strength or the ability to memorize significant amounts of information might have been critical elements in the workforce.  However, technical knowledge has overtaken this I believe.  Comfort using and manipulating a variety of applications and platforms will be essential by 2030. 


Therefore, it is essential that teachers know how to use technology as well.  Far too often, the desire to use technology is there, but no the ability.  To counteract, this schools must train teachers.  This VLOG is a synthesis of four interviews that I conducted with teachers at my school and the survey results of students in my class.  I asked the four teachers questions about the importance of technology in the learning environment and how they use it.  I also surveyed my students on their interests and the technology they use at home.  The video below has the results of the interview and the surveys.

To be successful in the modern world, it is essential that students learn to collaborate .  One was to teach students to work together is by having them work together in small groups.  There are different ways to group students and each method has its positives and negatives .  For simplicity's sake, I will focus on heterogeneous (different) and homogeneous (same) groupings, and these will be reflected in the six sample data sets below as well as a Padlet presentation on using assessment to inform assessment. Behavior Management Plan

Students misbehavior has been a factor in classrooms for time immemorial.  How we deal misconduct, however, has changed.  No longer is corporal punishment or shaming considered to be acceptable options.  Instead, there has been a shift towards understanding the mindset of the student and collaborating with the student and his or her parents to solve problem behaviors.  This is a  plan  to help a 6th grade student  Samantha .

Traumatic Stress

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) are a prime cause of traumatic stress.  According to a  recent survey , 64% of the respondents have undergone some type of ACE.  Therefore, understanding what ACEs are, how they can negatively affect student outcomes, what the symptoms of traumatic stress are, and how to provide support to students who are suffering from traumatic stress is critical.  This is a  Coggle  on how to help students with traumatic stress.
